Gold Coast son of a pastor held in protective custody for 'bashing paedophiles'

A tattooed son of a pastor who has bashed bikies and paedophiles will spend at least a year behind bars after he was found with drugs and a shotgun.

On Wednesday, Gold Coast man Kevin Pearce pleaded guilty to a range of charges including weapons offences.

The 30-year-old had been found with a stolen credit card and a number of shotgun cartridges in a bum bag, the Gold Coast Bulletin reported.

Pearce was in court this week after he breached parole for an incident in July where police found him in a stolen car with a sawn-off shotgun.

Since his arrest he had been in protective custody after allegedly bashing paedophiles and bikies in jail.

He allegedly crashed the Volkswagon into another car and fled the scene before officers caught up with him with a four-day-old gunshot wound to the leg.

The man, whose father is a pastor on the Gold Coast, had apparently been in a fight with some members of the Mongols bikie gang.

In the stolen car police also found ammunition, cash, and drugs, according to the publication.

The court heard this week that a local pastor, Grant Hoyle of Glow Church in Varsity Lakes, had written a letter of support for Pearce.

The note said the 30-year-old attended Bible study and the crimes were 'out of character' from the man.
