Netflix’s new dating show, Love Like A K-Drama, follows eight hopeful actors as they land roles in romantic K-dramas while searching for love. For the first time ever, the series will reveal whether the cast members’ on-screen chemistry will translate into reality.

We’re used to the tantalizing romance of K-Dramas, but what happens off-screen? Love Like A K-Drama promises to capture the heartbreak and romance of eight Korean and Japanese actors as they live under one roof as cameras stop rolling. Previous Netflix Korean dating shows include Singles Inferno, a flirty series in which contestants aim to escape “Hell” island, but Love Like A K-Drama will take a more wholesome approach.

Born on July 14, 1987, singer and actor Song Ji Hyuk is the oldest male cast member. The 36-year-old debuted as a member of the six-member boy group, Supernova, in 2007. Supernova has been mainly active in Japan in recent years but previously collaborated with T-ara in 2009.

Ji Hyuk made his acting debut in the 2010 film, A Love Song To You, and recently appeared in the historical romance series, The Secret Romantic Guesthouse (2023), starring The Glory’s Shin Ye Eun.

Kim Won Shik

Sparks are guaranteed to fly on screen thanks to Kim Won Shik, the most experienced actor in the cast. The 29-year-old may have only four credits in his portfolio but they’re all K-Drama favorites. He is best known for portraying a mage in the hit fantasy series, Alchemy Of Souls, and for guest appearances in romantic comedies True Beauty and What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?

Kim Dong Kyu

Born June 21, 1995, Kim Dong Kyu is a model who made his acting debut in 2018. His first role was alongside Squid Game star Lee Yoo Mi in Something Between Us, Comic Book Cafe. That same year, he appeared in Wind Blowing in Jeju, another lead role. Dong Kyu’s last acting credit was Dating Class (2019), a youth romance drama.

The oldest and most experienced actress, Rio Yamashita, hails from Tokushima, Japan. She entered the entertainment industry after auditioning for a talent agency and eventually became a model in 2007. It premiered on Disney Plus in December 2022.

Japanese actress Yko Fueki, known as Yumin in South Korea, will be hosting the show alongside studio members Haruna Kondo of the comedy duo, Harisenbon; J-pop idol A-Chan of Perfume; and comedian Shusuke Fukutoku of Jaru Jaru.

Generations From Exile Tribe dancer Hayato Komori and Japanese actress Maria Tani are also part of the lineup.
