Tahereh Mafi, Ignite Me (Shatter Me)

This series is over. OVER.

I have become so massively attached to these books that I refuse to believe this trilogy has finally come to an end. From the beginning to the end, I can say this book is utterly breathtaking and beautiful, making you fall in love with the characters and story line all over again. I could not put this book down from start to finish and I'm surprised to realize that I love this book more than the other two.

This book starts off with Juliette hidden in the base of the quarters and is determined to formulate a plan to take down the reestablishment once and for all. Looking back to book one where Juliette was timid and weak–minded to become a strong and rebellious person shows how much her character changes and progresses throughout the trilogy. In my opinion, I think Juliette has really improved character–wise because she is no longer seen as the weak, shy, cry baby who allows Adam to think for her and dominate her. She has finally come past that breaking point and has realised who she is and what she wants for herself and her future. Even if it means sacrificing herself and making other people unhappy. I really like Juliette in this book, because she is more like the heroine figure I look up to. She is much stronger and handles her problems and feelings better. Unlike the other two books, Juliette has finally known how to put her problems and feelings aside and focus on the bigger problems at hand.

The thing that I love most about this book is the style of writing. I've heard people say it is confusing, disturbing, unnecessary or utter nonsense and rubbish. What they don't know and don't realise, is that Tahereh Mafi's style of writing is unique and special – every word that spills off the page has a sense of knowledge and wisdom, creating a perfect scene and characters in the readers mind. I have never come across a book with such strong words and use of creative vocabulary and I'm sure I never will. Tahereh Mafi has done an OUTSTANDING job on this book. Unlike all the other books I have read, I won't just remember, love and admire it because of its story line, I will also love it because of its amazing style of writing, which I don't always like, point out or remember in books.

Another reason why I love this book so much is because of... KENJI. I have a very, very, VERY serious problem over my obsession for Kenji. I often find myself laughing out loud when he pops up in the book and the moments he and Juliette have are simply amazing and heartwarming. He always carries around this sense of humor that I admire and is the sort of best friend that I/anyone would kill to have.

Talking about the characters in the book, I loved the way Tahereh Mafi handles the love triangle between Adam, Juliette and Warner. This is meant to be a spoiler free review but can I just say how much I fricking love Warner? He cares so much for Juliette and loves her so much. What really stuck with me was finding out the truth about his mother and what his father did to him. It was heartbreaking and I even shed some tears. On the other hand, I disliked Adam so much in this book. I didn't exactly hate him because at some parts I understood where he was coming from. But in my perspective, throughout the whole book he was acting like a complete spoilt brat. I love Juliette's decision in the end and I think Tahereh Mafi did an outstanding job ending this beautiful series.

If you haven't read the third book in this trilogy or if you're scared to do so, I highly recommend you do so now. It is a fantastic book and I must say in my opinion the best out of the whole trilogy. This book is a hell of a rollercoaster, making you laugh at most points, happy, sad, angry and I even shed some tears when the book finished. This book was filled with action, danger, love and excitement and will captivate you from the very beginning to the very end. 5/5 stars. This book deserved every star it got.
